Therapy with Sophie, Elvis and Asti

Dang, I just realized that I haven’t posted in over a month! While I really haven’t been doing any training with the Spins, I’ve been busy in other ways. I attended the memorial service for a friend I’ve known since first grade, spent a week in New Orleans at a training class and (almost) got my fill of seafood, and Elettra earned her Jr. Hunt title at the Spinone National Specialty by running an excellent test.

And Asti came to spend the next year with us – Asti’s Compassion Trophy that is. The award is presented by the Spinone Club of America (SCOA) each year “In recognition of the Spinone demonstrating superior performance as a therapy dog”, and Elvis was awarded the trophy for 2015. What a nice accomplishment and recognition for all the therapy work he does.

We missed our April therapy visits when I came down with the flu, but resumed this month with Elvis visiting the Idaho State Veteran’s Home and Sophie visiting the hospital’s rehabilitation center and an assisted living center.

Sophie is becoming more fragile with age and I’m not sure how much longer she will be able to do therapy work. She hurt her front leg a little just by jumping out of the car (a Prius that’s about 8 inches off the ground) but as long as she is so excited to make her therapy visits, it’s her job for life.

  1. Congrats on the recognition and the Asti trophy. It sounds like quite and honor. Sorry to hear about Sophie. Good job Elettra.
