The functional fanny pack

Although fanny packs have become passé, they’re still included in my standard hunting gear. There are times when I don’t want to be encumbered by a hunting vest – maybe I just want to travel light, or maybe I’m bundled up in heavy winter gear.

With a fanny pack, I can fill it with shells and they’re secure, easily accessible, and not cumbersome to carry. The individual pockets allow me to keep different loads separated, for example, one pocket containing goose loads and another duck and Pheasant loads. Incidentals such as a protein bar, wet wipes and so forth can also be included.

While it may be considered a fashion faux pas, the fanny pack was designed for efficiency and it’s use is limited only by your imagination.

  1. My hubby likes to carry his shells in a fanny pack type thing when hunting upland.

  2. It’s really quite handy. I think I’m going to expand the concept by getting some leather and make myself a Possibles Bag.
