The original Crock Pot Sage Grouse recipe can be found on Women’s Hunting Journal which I’ll have to try it next year. The recipe I came up with this year had a lot of substitutions, since wasn’t willing to make the 14-mile round trip to the grocery store. Still, it was pretty darn good.

The ingredients and substitutions are listed below.

Original ingredients                                                                                                          Substitutions

1 Lg. can cream of celery soup                                                                         1 sm. Can Cream of Chicken
2 tbls. Worcheshire
1 tbls. honey
2 tbls. stoneground mustard                                                                              1 tbls of Superfine Mustard

  1. Looks yummy. I wonder what I could substitute for the soup. We are doing lowsalt after hubby’s surgery. I have yet to find a good substitute for the cream of ______ soups. Even the lite varieties have too much sodium.
